We are on a mission to see lives changed. Since 1949, homeless and hungry people have come to the Union Gospel Mission “tore up, busted and disgusted,” to quote one of our clients. With your help, we offer them a chance to put their lives back together, anchored by a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Clients are bussed to Calvert Place during the late afternoon to early evening, and bussed back to The Bridge in the morning. When a client goes through intake, he is assigned a particular bed. That same bed is his for as long as he stays at the shelter (capacity is 335 beds). The men’s facility has secure lockers, where clients are allowed to store some of their possessions. All children in the CDC ultimately learn the importance of God’s love in their life.

The clinic at COH opened in November, 2008. The Calvert Place clinic opened its doors in March, 2010. Both clinics have regular hours of service.

VA Per Diem Program

In February of 2009, the Union Gospel Mission became a recipient of the Veteran’s Administration Per Diem Program. Through this program, administered by the Dallas VA, veterans who are “formerly homeless or in danger of becoming homeless” are sent to the Mission to live in a transitional living environment for up to two years. UGM is approved to have up to 40 individuals living here at any one time. Since the beginning of the program, there has been between 34-40 veterans living at the Mission at all times.
